Innov8 for Health

Congratulations to the 2013 Inno8 for Health Business Concept Expo Winners and Finalists!

University Track

Winner:

The Ultimate Lip Balm:  Will be the strongest SPF lip balm in the cosmetic and over-the-counter (OTC) market. This product is designed for Individuals who love being outdoors and have hyper-sensitive lips or have a chronic medical condition that leaves the lips extremely vulnerable to sun exposure and damage. The "Ultimate Lip Balm XR" solves this issue by combining OTC levels of active and natural ingredients.  This product is highly effective in sun protection as well as tasting and smelling great.                                                                  Team: Samuel Frith

Finalists:

The patent-pending invention is a system for enhancing medication compliance through a smartphone app and integration program for a pharmacy mainframe. The app provides the user with medication dose reminders, personal health tracking, an integrated and real-time connection with the pharmacy, and immediate access to a pharmacist.  It will not only directly connect the user to their pharmacy, but will also allow to pharmacist monitoring of medication compliance.

Team: Jeff Alborn, Jackie Aprahamian, Rachael Fleagle, Jeremy Klein, Brian Salzman, and Denver Stewart

Team: Joseph Illencik

Startup Track

Winners:

Agendocrine:  WinService (product name) is a software platform designed to provide interactive education with a random variable reward.  WinService reinforces behavior by providing a reward of variable size with each correct question answered -- creating a kind of "Educational Slot Machine".  This product would be used in the education of hospital staff through the use of situational learning.  While any reward system could be used, we propose that the reward be given in the form of micro-units of paid time off.  Using PTO as a reward currency creates a win-win situation for employers and staff as staff is given time as a reward and the hospital limits time spent in the in servicing process.                                                                                                                                                 Team:  Brad Eilerman, MD

Human Design Group: MinIT 2 Healthy (product name) is a web-based platform that encourages individuals to get up and move for two minutes every 60 minutes. Participants login to MinIT 2 Healthy on any Internet-connected device and enter their progress (for example, a quick two-minute walk or any other physical movement/exercise). That progress is posted on the newsfeed of the participant’s network and the participant earns points based on the hourly consistency and type of movement. Points can be redeemed within contributing networks of sponsors to increase motivation and continued effort. New movement and point-earning challenges would be updated on a regular basis to maintain a reward-challenge system that would keep participants “playing” consistently and over time.

Team: Renee Human and the Center for Applied Informatics at NKU

Finalists:

Incipience, LLC:  Dr. Scribbles™ (the products name) is a new and innovative way for young patients, as well as parents, to stay busy while waiting for their exam to begin.  Its goal is to educate the child and their parent/guardian about better health. The Dr. Scribbles roll is pre-printed and designed with age appropriate games, such as tic-tac-toe, word scramble, word search and connect the dots.  The games and activities present a great fun opportunity for the medical provider to further educate their patients and the child’s parents about better health.

Team: Angela Malone

RHZ Development:  syncHorizon (product name) is a mobile app suite that is target-designed to meet the needs of senior citizens (~65+) in assisted living and living with home assistance.  It combines several key features that are valuable to seniors who are getting familiar with mobile technology and the possible applications.  It has several modules;  myPeople, myMeds, myHealth, myScrapbook, myTalk, and mySchedule
